Walsh Race Craft Cody Gibson #40 Race Report
The week before the first national was an extremely busy week at Walsh Race Craft, we were all scrambling to get Cody’s Pro-Am Production LT-R450 built, the day before the race. We got it together, threw it on the dyno and were instantly excited! as the quad pulled the best numbers on our dyno that we have ever seen. Our Pro-Am Unlimited Walsh CRF450R has been ready to go for a while now, so with both quads ready we headed up to GA.
Saturday morning, Pro-Am Unlimited on the Walsh CRF450R timed qualifying saw Cody Gibson at the top of the list by almost 2 seconds over the second place qualifier. With the first gate pick, Cody was able to put himself right where he wanted to be and as the gate dropped Cody took off like a rocket! He easily pulled the holeshot and as he rounded the second corner and made his way around the track he instantly started to pull away from the field. The moto continued this way and Cody ended up winning by about 20 seconds! The second moto went the same way, Cody pulled the holeshot and left everybody to fight for second place.
Sunday morning, Pro-Am Production on the Suzuki LT-R450 timed qualifying started a little rough, as Cody has not ridden an LT-R450 in almost 2 years, but he got comfortable quickly and set the fastest qualifying time once again. Cody was feeling really good after qualifying and was very excited to get the moto underway. As we lined up with the first gate pick again, Cody set himself in the best location that he could and once again he took off like a rocket! Cody came around the first corner in the lead and continued to pull away from the field, as he crossed the finish line with about the same 20 second gap over second place. Moto two started off a little differently, Cody came off the line and bumped into another racer, slowing his momentum down. He ended up finding a descent line around the first corner and swooped into third place, as the first lap carried on Cody picked up second place and moved up on the leader quickly. Cody made the pass towards the end of the first lap and once again the rest were left to battle for second place as Cody pulled away from the field and won his fourth and final moto of the weekend.
We are more than confident in our program for 2012 and we look forward to more reports like this one as the year continues on.
A very big THANK YOU to all of you!
